Q) Is this e-learning programme free?

A) No, you have to pay to access this course, unless your club has paid for your training.

Q) What do I need to attend the online learning?

A) You just need access to a computer or a tablet device with Internet connection in order to take part.

Q) Can I access these courses from any computer?

A) Yes, all you will need is an Internet connection and your account login information. The e-learning programme and its courses allow you to access them wherever your computer/tablet is: at home, at work, on the road; anywhere that you can connect to the Internet. There are no strict class times and you do not have to be online at a set time. You can log on to the system whenever it is convenient for you, at any time, day or night. You can complete full courses or small sections - you decide - but please note that all topics must be completed before your practical award day, unless otherwise stated.

Q) Will you send me books, CDs or DVDs?

A) No, all materials are available online for you to access or download.

Q) Will e-learning work on my smartphone, tablet and other handheld devices?

A) The courses are not supported on mobile phones but are for Apple and Android tablet devices. The very first time you launch the course you will be asked to install an app called Articulate. This will allow you to access the courses on your tablet. Once installed, follow the onscreen instructions and the course will automatically open through this app.

Some courses include resources. On tablets you can access these in DREAMS via the link next to the course title.

Q) If I close a course halfway through, do I need to start from the beginning again?

A) No, the learning courses are designed to resume from where they left off, if you click Yes when asked. The learning courses will resume even if you use a different computer or tablet. However, if you have exited a course test before the end, you will need to start from the beginning.

Q) How will the courses be taught?

A) The courses are online and self-directed. They are fun and interactive with full audio voice-over.

Q) Are the courses available in languages other than English?

A) No, but our courses will soon be launched in Welsh.

Q) Can I translate and adapt the course materials for my own purposes?

A) No, all intellectual property and copyright is retained by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) and Prospect Training Services (PTS).

Q) Can I take an individual unit without signing up for the entire course?

A) No, you will need to undertake the whole of the course.

Q) Will I receive a certificate for finishing the course?

A) Once you have successfully completed all of the online theory courses, attended the practical assessments and completed the Evaluation Form, your tutor will mark you as complete. After this an electronic certificate will become available on your profile which you can then print out.

Q) Does this programme replace any academic courses?

A) The courses are designed to deliver the theoretical elements for your coaching training. It is specially designed to work alongside your practical sessions to ensure your knowledge and understanding is up to date before you undertake your practical delivery. This ensures your training is delivered in a balanced and flexible way.

Q) What software do I need to run the course?

A) You just need a supported Internet browser and Adobe Flash Player (version 8.0 or above) for PC, or the Articulate app on tablets, which is available for free download.

If you do not have Adobe Flash Player installed, download the latest version free from their website:

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Q) Which Internet browser should I use?

A) We recommend using Google Chrome when running our courses. If using Internet Explorer, you will need to use version 8 or above.

Q) What if I have a slow Internet connection?

A) If you have a dial-up connection (for example, with a modem speed of 56kbps) the course will not run. The minimum modem speed required is 256kbps (0.2mbps) which is the lowest speed for most broadband connections. If you have a broadband speed of 1mbps the course will run, but the video element will take time to load and/or may by jumpy. For optimal viewing, we recommend a connection speed of at least 1-2 mbps. If you are unsure, you can check your Internet connection speed here: http://www.speedtest.net/

Q) What if I don't have an Internet connection?

A) Our online courses are currently only available via the Internet from our website www.fawcourses.com. Many libraries and coffee shops offer free Wi-Fi. Or look out for our advertised FAW Coach Education drop-in centres for IT support.
